This wine came in third out of 277 Pinot Noirs entered into the 2007 Pinot Shootout. It is from the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. This Pinot has generous aromas of ripe fruit and toast. Over time, the flavors of dried herbs, earth, vanilla and sandalwood emerge. The jammy fruit flavors are balanced by oak and toast. This wine has balance, roundness and warmth. It will pair with a variety of fruit and cheeses, but I really enjoy it with an aged Piave from Italy. The wine is available for $38 per bottle from Bacchus and Venus wine shop in Sausalito.
